Reminder – Family Canoe Weekend 2, 3, 4 & 5 May

Salwarpe 2007A final reminder about this year’s family canoeing weekend on the River Thames around Marlow on 2,3,4 & 5 May .

The plan is to use the excellent Longridge camp site (www.longridge-uk.org) as a base for two classic Thames river trips. The first trip is a four mile run from Hurley to Marlow taking in three canoe friendly weirs. The second trip is an interesting backwater called St Patrick’s Stream that has a few weirs and a bit of simple moving water (similar to the lower.
As an added bit of adventure we have booked the island camp site at Longridge so will literally have an island to ourselves for the weekend. The site allows camp fires and has pubs in paddling / boating distance. The schedule will give us a spare day that you can either spend on some of the local Thames weirs, the site’s activities (sailing, climbing, shooting, etc.) or maybe just messing about in boats on the Thames (I think some wrote a book about that!)
The biggest cost for the weekend is the camp site at £24 per person for the weekend (three nights). I appreciate this is a bit pricey for camping but given the unique location I think it is worth it. We are assured that the new canoes will be available so we will not need to worry about canoe hire fees meaning that the costs are basically camping, fuel and food.
Please don’t hesitate to give Adam a call if you would like more details.
