These are some events being run by Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre.
I had a number of requests for a one day course in open boats for kayakers who hold old kayak 2 star but not 2 star canoe.
As you may be aware if you would like to progress with BCU qualifications and be able to assess the new star awards and paddlepower scheme you either need old 2 star in both kayak and canoe or the new 2 star which is taken in both (kayak and canoe).
The whole day will be in open canoes. It will consist of a mornings coaching and an assessment in the afternoon. The course will cover all the canoe elements of the new 2 star so that at the end of the day (if you pass) you will hold the new 2 star award.
Due to the many requests I have had for this course a new course date has been added for Sunday 25th January at Weymouth 9.15 til 16.30 at a cost of £45 plus certification fee.

Please find attached a list of sea kayaking trips around Weymouth and Kayak/canoe courses being held. For the cost of £5 you can also be a guinea-pig for a assessment course.
Paul Haggett is already booked on the New BCU Navigation and Tidal Planning course to keep his qualifications up to date. Those interested in sea kayaking may wish to think about attending the Symposium in Apr 2009. Paul believes it is worthwhile to attend a symposium, you get top class instruction from professional coaches and get to meet other people sharing your experiences.
