At the begining of November I went to North Wales to do my WWSR (White Water Safety) course, the venue for this was the River Dee (link to UK rivers guide book)on both days. Mile End Mill all day Saturday and the Sunday we paddled from above Serpents Tail down to Mile End Mill.
The course (link to BCU course details) was run by Ian Dallaway, who is the RCO (Regional Coaching Officer) for the West Midlands.
Saturday was spent at Mile End Mill where we spent nearly all day in the river practicing and learning various rescue skills. Sunday we started above Town Falls and paddled down to Mile End Mill. On the way we did lots more rescue practice but this time involving kayaks as well as time in the river.
The course was really interesting and we covered some new techniques as well as practice other a lot, a most enjoyable weekend.
