Ergo at The Winter Social

SATURDAY 25TH – Winter Social

As part of my fundraising for my Regional trip with Girlguiding UK, I will be bringing an ergo along to the Winter Social. During the trip, we will travel to the Czech Republic, where we will paddle approximately 70km of the Vltava River in South Bohemia as well as visiting Prague.

After a practice go (although you shouldn’t really need one, as it’s essentially a kayak), you will then paddle as fast and far as you can in 30 seconds, with your time being recorded on the leader board. A suggested donation £1 a go, and there will be prizes! (one for juniors and one for adults – and the wooden spoon of course)

Non paddling sessions

You may remember at the beginning of September we fan some non paddling training sessions, covering such topics as; Trip Planning, First Aid, Casualty Management and Throw Rope Practice to name but a few.

These sessions were very successful and well attended. If club members are interested in more sessions like this then please let one of the committee know.

Winter Challenge Results – What A Club

We have the results of the BCU Winter Challenge, which positioned us mid way in the several competitions:
– Most miles club – 11th – the winners were Chelmsford 11,046
– Most places – 4th – the winners were Ribble 40
– Most miles individual female – 12th (Rita), the winner from Poole paddled 294 miles
– Most miles individual male – 9th (Nick D), the winner from Chelmsford paddled 434 miles
So well done – its good to see our club up there in a national competition.  And provides some formidable targets for next year!

Can all those who have not paid for the social please either pay me tomorrow at the pool or pay into the club account by Sunday, I am ordering the meat on Monday so need definite numbers. Please put a reference on it SURNAME and SOCIAL.

An email has been sent out with the details of who has paid and who hasn’t; along with whether you are bringing a pudding or side dish/salad.  If you want to change what food you are providing, or if you have any dietary requirements then please let me know.

Thanks Sue

Committee Vacancy

Due to other upcoming commitments Liz has decided to resign as Secretary from the Club. Firstly I would like to thank her for fulfilling this role for the number of years, she has done this extremely well.

So, we have a vacancy as Secretary on the Committee. If you are interested in this role then please either talk to Liz or another committee member to fond out more about the role. The role of Secretary is an important one for the committee and Liz has asked if we can fill the vacancy before March.
