Level 1 Coaching 2014

Following the success of the last few years we have another opportunity for some candidates to achieve their Level 1 coaching award. As you may know this is the first level of coaching scheme and gives a solid grounding in coaching paddle sport. The remit is not too committing but can still be very rewarding. If you are prepared to help out with Club coaching the Club will also support you financially.

Prerequisites are quite straightforward, you need to be over 16, register with Canoe England hold a two star certificate and attend a Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course. The Club can assist you with all of these. The actual Level one training is scheduled for two weekends in the Autumn (20/21 September and 4/5 October). The course is going to be held in Tewkesbury. Here is a link to a good document outlining the award …

If you are interested please let me know in the next week or so as this course is going to fill up quickly.

Finally if you think you are not ‘good enough’ to be a coach this really is not the case! There is plenty of time to work up to a two star and virtually everybody who has done the course finds that their own paddling improves once they start coaching the sport to others.

let me know quickly if you are interested.

There is a local outdoors show, organised by Back Packing Light on Saturday 26th April 2014. Anyone planning on any outdoor activities this year should be interested in going. They should have a lot of great kit have a look at their website.

WKCC ‘Come and Try It’ Paddlesport 2014

Fancy trying something different to show off your paddling skills?  We’ve found some great opportunities to try out some Paddlesport competitions this year; this is your chance to sign up.  A lot of these are aimed at juniors but there is no reason why Seniors shouldn’t have a go at the open events

The events will need a bit or organisation so it is necessary to confirm your commitment so please ensure you are available on the dates (juniors you need to check with your parents).  When we know numbers we can work out transport, borrowing boats etc.

Please fill out the form below and make sure you have added any events you’ve chosen to your diary.  I need to get the first entries in by the 16 march so don’t hang around
