The July weekend this year was another success thanks to the organisation of Tina and Pail Haggett . Thank you.Despite the water levels being low the trips were still interesting with everyone doing the same trip on Saturday with a nice long break in Hay-on-Wye. On Sunday morning Caroline arranged delivery of breakfast from the local pub for us lazy ones. This was followed by a short trip for some while the rest of us had a great time mainly swimming and practicing rescues in the rapid at Monnington Falls.
Many thanks again to Fitz and Adam for doing the towing and Dave for entertaining the juniors.

Sunday May 30th Surfing Porthcawl

We’ve now made a decision for this weekends surfing and chosen Sunday as the weather looks better.
Low tide is 8:30 and we will be meeting at the usual place in the car park, on the hill by the cafe at Rest Bay for 10:00 would be a good plan. Take some change for the car park. You can turn up later if you wish.

It’s a great beach for surfing and body boarding, kite boarding e.t.c. If you are planning to sit on the beach then there are a few rocky wind breaks but you may want to take your own depending on wind direction. Remember to bring some sun protection.

Google map to Rest Bay. You can zoom in and out on this map and switch to aerial photo view which gives a good shot of the car park. Note a top tip for the route is to go down the M50, A40, A449 to Newport to pick up the M4 as it avoids paying that nice big toll on the new bridge and it’s a more pleasant route.

Please take a look at the July weekend poster below and contact Tina as soon as possible as we will need to confirm bookings. It’s a great place to be located on the River Wye. We stayed there last year and on the first night of our recent 100 mile paddle.

Doggy Paddle

Richard Butler will be intending to take part in the Leamington Spa CC Doggy Paddle again this year. The paddle is in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. If anyone is interested in this paddle please let Richard know. Sunday 9th May start 9.30am onwards, 18 miles Leamington to Stratford, 3-5 hours depending on speed and conditions etc. There are three shootable weirs and one compulsory portage. Further details on request or at the RLSCC Web Site rlscc.org.uk.

Sunday 25th April, Nafford

Sundays paddle is park and play/practice at Nafford weir. The smiley face is Nafford weir (for reference for future paddles the circle is Eckington bridge car park).
Parking is limited in the lay-by on the Nafford road opposite the smiley face and you are not allowed to park in the fishermans car parks. You head down the path, across the sluice bridge and lock and along the path to the weir or get in by the lock and paddle around and shoot it.
Alternatively if you don’t feel like a paddle come down and watch as it’s a good viewing area.

Wyre Wier Sunday 14th March 2010

We had a good time on Sunday afternoon at Wyre. Jordan paddled Clives Robson Red Fred, Clive paddled Ed’s Liquid Logic and I paddled my own little boat. Nick G, Nick D and Richard B all paddled open canoes.
The level was good and weather was great and a good time was had by all. Please see the YouTube videos in the links section and the photos below.

Film & Activity Evening – Cancelled due to bad weather

Tonight, 18/02/2010, we will be meeting at The PRSYC (Pershore Riverside Youth Centre) in Pershore (Location Here) for a non paddling night as the Pool is shut. Hopefully there will be a short film or two as well as some other video, books, magazines etc.

Doors will open about 6.30pm and the film will start about 7.00pm. There is a Chippy not too far as well as a Pizza place and Kebab house, so your tea requirements are taken care of.

All members and associates are welcome to come as it will be a bit of a social event and an opportunity to relax and have a chat.
