Please try to attend and have a say in how your club is run. I came across this article explaining the upgrade to the Tees barrage white water course that some of us have paddled. It’s a bit techie but might appeal to the engineers and scientists. Interestingly its the same scheme that has been suggested for Pershore and Ludlow (but in a downward direction only). We are planning to be there for the first session (09:30 to 11:30) which is at the lower flow rate of 4 cubic meters per second (refered to as 4 cumecs; or for any engineers or scientists 4 m3s−1 ). This gives a good opportunity to get used to the course either paddling solo or taking turns in the Duo (accompanied by a coach in the back). Clive has verified today that the New College Worcester pool will not be available until week commencing 6th September. Therefore Thursday 2nd pool sessions are cancelled and will be replaced by a session at Nafford. Meet at Eckington bridge at 18:30 to paddle up to Nafford weir. So, after a few weeks off the water due to pulling my shoulder trying a reverse something or other roll, I thought with the last couple of day’s rain the weirs at Pershore might provide a new shape of wave for me to try out. Our region is planning a go paddling day on Sunday 22nd August with a morning paddle from Arley to Bewdley. It clashes with our last Sunday paddle but may be a good alternative to paddle with lots of different people. See poster for details. |
