Three Star Award – Review of the day

The day started a little foggy but at least dry.
The venue had changed from Symonds Yat due to high water levels.
We all made our way over to Knightwick lay by to meet.

We made our way to the ‘get-in’ by car, taking all our boats and equipment with us. It then took some negotiating to lower our boats into the river.
8 juniors were being assessed in total.
Myself, Tom, Rachel, Max, Lou, Jonah, Harry and Ross.
Although all a little apprehensive we were very excited to.
We met our assessor Mark Thompson.
Clive also took on the role of assessor as well.
While we were being assessed  which certainly had some challenges, some other members of the club paddled ahead of us for their own paddle.
Throughout the day, we had to demonstrate many skills that we had been taught. Skills such as breaking in and out, ferry gliding and hanging draw .Our biggest fear was rolling on both sides. Hooray!  what a relief when we all mastered it. At the end of the assessment we were all exhausted and ached all over.
We all really enjoyed the day and are now aiming to work towards our coaching award.
